I had an appointment to see the doctor for my annual exam at 11:30 today, Dec. 22, 2014. I arrived on time, and I was asked to update some information. I did that, returned it to the front desk, and waited until 11:55. When I started to think that they had forgotten about me, I went to the front desk and asked if the doctor was running very late. I was told the doctor was, in fact, running late, but they would check how late. A few minutes later, I was told that I was next to be called but I would have to wait at least 30 MORE minutes for the doctor to see me. Since this was my entire lunch break, I had to leave without seeing the doctor, which also means that I have no other chance for my annual this year.
I have been going to Renaissance for Women for many, many years and I have Never once had to wait more than 15 minutes to get back to a room. Once in a room, I rarely have to wait long either. I have complemented them several times on their scheduling. It's GREAT to go in and never wait long. I have had Dr. Titus who was wonderful and really listened to me. Now, that she is retired, I see Dr. Paulson and just getting to know her but like her so far.
I got a total laparoscopic hysterectomy on June12 and everything went well Doctor Pickhardt is such a talented surgeon I have an expectacular recovery, I falowed all his advises and Im really happy with the result, he explained everything really good and I just regret wait to long to do this favor to my self, Im feeling great and I will keep this Doctor for future needs thank you Doctor and nurses that took such a great care of me.
Dr. Titus, her nurse, everybody was wonderful. I haven't been for an annual for a few years because we've moved so much, we always use condoms, and I've been with the same partner for over 4.5 yrs, but they weren't judgmental about that. They were very professional, knowledgeable, and respectful. I didn't feel awkward once. Dr. Titus, also, provided helpful information about my risks for cancer (she whipped out her IPhone to double check the statistics) and listed (in detail) all of my options for birth control and the risks. She, also, helped me understand what was normal women's issues and what was abnormal without scaring the wits out of me. I would definitely return here if we weren't moving in May.
Great staff!! They made me feel super comfortable and did everything they could to answer all of my questions.
The only thing a little odd was that they wouldn't let me pay for my portion. They wanted to submit it to my insurance. I work in healthcare, so I have access to AHIN and looked up my benefits for an annual. It was a $30 co-pay. I know I will have a bill for lab fees, but that's billed separately anyway (and I don't know the codes for those). That makes me think that they don't have provider access to the BCBS website, which is odd because it is so easy to sign up for it and takes seconds to verify benefits and eligibility. You can even estimate the provider liability/ppo discounts by looking up particular HCPCS and CPT codes' fee schedules. Oh, well, they informed me that they would send me a bill, which is fine. I just have a personal preference of taking care of my portion responsibility at the time of service because I don't have to keep track of it then, and it saves trees.
I find it appalling that doctors think that they can make people wait at their whim. If the doctor knew that she was running late, why didn't someone call me at my work and let me know, so that I would not waste all that time and then have to leave without seeing the doctor? The patient's time does not seem to count at Renaissance Women's Healthcare.
They, also, recommended I get some general health lab work b/c they recommend it to all of their patients, but weren't pushy about it. They gave me a sheet with a list of PCP's since I noted that I didn't have one. I've never had a good experience with a gyno, and I generally avoid the entire medical community, preferring natural medicine and a healthy lifestyle; but this clinic exceeded my expectations.
Their facility was also tastefully decorated, and you could tell that they really paid attention to details. Example: even the gown I had to change into was more stylish than your average hospital gown.
