This place is awesome! They have books on everything under the sun. There's a huge selection of non-fiction, especially history subjects. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I ended up purchasing some fiction and books on math, spirituality, children's advocacy, literature, finance, and an awesome literary dictionary. Nine books (mostly hardback) came out to under $30. I spent an hour but could easily spend 3. They have a dollar table. You can find a lot of rather old and out of print stuff here. There's a large selection of books on Arkansas, including about the Razorbacks sports teams. There's a pretty good sciences section. Definitely, definitely worth a visit if you like books. If you LOVE books, be sure to allow plenty of time. Parking in the area is paid ($2/hour at the time of this review) but they have a pay by phone system and pay stations that take cards.
It's always a wonderful experience to wander the ecletic shelves through the many rooms of Dickson street Bookshop. If you're a book lover, this is a must see treat!
Super cool bookstore packed with old books of all sorts. Easy to get lost in here for a long time!
You'll find plenty of gems in the stacks.
I love the local flavor, too. They have a book on Ozark Vernacular Houses in the architecture section that is eloquently written and informative. I also found a diary of an 1800s Ozark woman in the local history section. It was stunning to read about a year of her life in her words.
This is one of the best bookstores in the world. A completely unique experience and a mind boggling assortment of books.
Dickson Street Bookshop is a real local treasure! Specializing in rare and used books, this maze-like store offers a staggering array of titles on pretty much every subject & in every genre. Narrow aisles, tall, homemade shelves, and handwritten labels provide a unique atmosphere, and its unusual layout invites one to explore; the place seems to just keep going! It's worth stopping in to see for the experience alone, but is also a great place to get books at a good price, especially if you're not sure exactly what book you might want.
